ARTIST: John Hood TITLE: Glenn Gould & the North/John Fahey & the South CAT #: JH006 DATE: March 2004 PRICE: $20.00 Canadian Glenn Gould was a Canadian classical pianist, renowned for his recordings of Bach, and his eccentricities. He was interested in the "Idea of North", which relates to the change in environment and culture as you travel further north into the Arctic regions. John Fahey from the US was a graduate in ethnomusicology in the late 1950's. He was drawn to the folk and blues guitar styles of the Southern states. His ground-breaking instrumental guitar recordings have earned him the title "The Father of American Primitive Guitar", a style that has spawned several generations of fingerpicking guitarists all over the world. |
